Hands down AOC is one of the most stunning looking MMO's out, if funcom can't do anything else right they sure can lure you in with the visuals of the game. When playing almost everyone at one point has had to do the dubble look, or stop all together to admire a scene they have discovered. This has happened to me several times while playing AOC, most recently was tonight.
While leveling an alt through Ymir's Pass, a zone which i had completely written off due to already having an 80 when it was released, i stumbled upon the runes to the south east of the map and found myself distracted from my quest to go and explore it. I started to climb towers and mountains just to get alternate views of this place. wish i knew the name of it but it didn't say when i was in game.
What are some of the places that have made you drop your jaw and made you want to sit back and admire what was in front of you?

Thou shalt not tank for PUGs, except as a penance for thy sins. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's DPS, for they are squishy and the wearer of silly dresses. Thou shalt take no joy in thy neigbor's nerf, for all nerfs are an abomination in the eyes of the Gods. Thou shalt not soil thine own Forums with flames, for thou art Tank, and are therefore the bigger man. Thou shall start every group by invoking the Holy Chant of Tankage: "Aggro is a group responsibility." For the goodness of thine many labors, thou deserveth to kill thy neighbor in PvP.
not a bad idea, feel free to post screen shots of the scenes your referencing. ill get mine tonight

I remember the first time I saw an NPC topless. That was pretty cool simply because growing up playing video games there weren't many that had the freedom to express things like nudity. It was typically censored or considered an "adult game" which often meant they weren't fun to play.
From a visual standpoint, nothing will get me like the first time I played Everquest and climbed to the top of something really tall. Age of Conan destroys that game in every way, including visuals, but the firsts aren't teh same.
I will say that you're spot on with Ymir's pass. I think it's the best zone in the entire game because of the level of detail and the diversity involved. It also contains the best dungeon/instance boss visuals in Ampitheater. If you have not played amp, do it. The massive frost giant is in there and you need to see it. As much as I love Sanctum, this puts it to shame.
Speaking of which, first time I saw the Acheronian Warlord in Sanctum I was pretty stoked. Connall's Valley had a nice visual at the top of the hill by the Ymirish where they have a dead person hanging from a treet (near spiders). Great visual there.
First time going through the bat demon part in Tortage... That was nice.

I still think this should be a raid zone. It would be so easy to convert, and so much more fun than say - Yakhmar, who happens to be no more than a giant pixelated turd.
Well, you know there is an area prepped for a big raid instances past the Son of Ymir quest. The exact name escapes me, but it's set up to be something big that hasn't been added. Sure would be nice if you could actually fight the big shackled guy in there... 24 man up.
